Who are Seescape?

Since our formation as Fife Society for the Blind over 150 years ago, we’ve been dedicated to serving those living with visual impairment in Fife – giving them the information, skills and confidence they need to thrive.  Now, as Seescape, we’re building on this legacy by increasing awareness of the life-changing services we offer, boosting our capacity to deliver support, and extending our reach across Fife.

Following a rich history based in Kirkcaldy, Seescape is now based at our modern new Visual Impairment Hub in Glenrothes. The Hub provides an accessible base for providing direct advice and support, and we also deliver a range of outreach support in communities across the whole of Fife.

What do Trustees do?

To enable Seescape to meet its aims, the role of Trustees is to:

  • set and maintain the vision, mission and values of the organisation
  • develop direction, strategy and planning
  • ensure the organisation has the appropriate structure and resources for its work
  • establish policies and procedures to govern organisational activity, including guidance for the board, volunteers and staff
  • establish and manage systems for reporting and monitoring
  • manage risk and ensure compliance and accountability with our governing document, external regulators and the law
  • make certain that the financial affairs of the organisation are conducted properly and are accurately reported.

Who are we looking for?

We are particularly keen to hear from people who have the following skills and experience, however we are also interested to hear from people with other relevant skills and experience:

  • IT / digital, including digital transformation and improvements
  • Accounting / finance
  • Business management, including planning, development and change
  • Human resources
  • Legal expertise
  • Accessible technology and/or digital
  • Fundraising and income generation
  • Marketing and communications
