Our 4 social groups meet throughout Fife for people who want to get out into the community and meet and socialise with peers.

They operate in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Cupar and Glenrothes. These social groups are well established and are often a lifeline for people who are socially isolated and lonely.

The volunteers work together to decide on a programme of events for each quarter, with a mix of entertainment, relevant information (finance, support, health) and other interesting topics as well as group outings.

We open the doors of our VI Hub for a weekly drop in, when clients can come in and get any support they need, but also company.

The space is specially adapted and we provide hot drinks and games and encourage our clients to spend time with their peers and with our staff and volunteers. This is a great way to access support informally.

We open our doors every Wednesday and Friday for a variety of informal drop in sessions – that our clients do not need to book, or have an appointment.

The sessions have different focusses.

Wednesday tech drop in, where we can provide demonstrations and training

Friday there are three drop in sessions – games, gentle exercise and a lunchtime ‘open’ drop in, where clients can pop in for information, advice or just a cuppa and chat with our team

We have a computer with internet access which can be used if needed and our team will be there to manage the space, support anyone who is there and provide additional information if needed.

What our members say

I attend the Dunfermline Group every week now…I think it’s fantastic, there’s something different every week and it gives me a focus…even my daughter has noticed I seem a lot happier now. It’s a good place to meet people in the same boat and share tips and advice.

It’s given me confidence to live on my own. The chance to speak to likeminded people and being with the group once a week gives me a sense of community.

I enjoy the fact that it’s the same group of people every week and sometimes there are trips to new places. It’s something to look forward to and the volunteers who run the group are great at organising activities.
