‘Build Your Own Smart Home!’
Thursday December 3rd
10am-11.30am

The AT Social Hub is back for another hour of tips, tricks and technology tales!

Thank you to all those who were able to attend our last session ‘App-racadabra!’, which focused on the magic of accessible smart phone Apps. For anyone who missed this, please find the recorded content via the link below.

For our next instalment, Sam and the ‘Two Stuart’s’ will be building the model ‘Smart Home’.

Smart home technology increases access and independence for blind and partially sighted people and the AT Social Hub will be putting the tech to the test!

The latest digital phenomenon across the globe is Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART) – better known as smart home technology.

Smart home technology provides the user with security, comfort, energy efficiency and convenience. The term “smart home” is used to describe a house that has lighting, appliances, heating, TVs, air conditioning, audio systems, computers, cameras and security devices that can communicate with one another and be remotely controlled from any room in the home, as well as remotely from any location via a smartphone or the internet.

Smart home tech could transform the way you live your life. The AT Social Hub team will be dissecting the endless possibilities that ‘Smart Living’ has to offer.

Please do come armed with any questions, queries or quibbles that you would like to share with the other Social Hub members.

This session is also suitable for teachers, parents and assistive technology beginners.

“For most people, technology makes things easier. For those with a disability, it makes things possible!”

Now more than ever assistive technology is invaluable to those with sight loss, visual impairment or learning disability. We have a solution that could be hugely beneficial to you or a family member so please do come and join other AT users as we share our experiences and support each other along the way 😊
