My role: I’m responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of Seescape, including working with our Board of Trustees and managing relationships with our partners and stakeholders.

I love working at Seescape as we’re a very well-known and well-respected grass-roots charity with a presence across the whole of Fife.  We have an amazing team of passionate staff and volunteers, and it’s great to be able to support and guide them.

My role: I develop and lead on the fundraising and communications strategies, and I also support Lesley with operational matters such as reporting, finance and HR.

Why I love working at Seescape: I enjoy working for smaller charities when the role is varied, and you see directly the positive effects of your work. The team at seescape are great. They are motivated and focussed on the clients, improving their lives and supporting them to be independent and happy. It’s a joy to see, and it motivates me hugely in my role.

Gemma Dickson, Operations Manager

My role: I’m responsible for the day-to-day running of the office including finance, HR and database management.

Why I love working at Seescape: Although I do not work directly with clients, I appreciate the fact that my position supports those who do. Seescape does fantastic work, and we have an incredible team here, and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Accessible Technology

Stuart Beveridge, Head of Accessible Technology

My role: to provide training, support and advice on all aspects of accessible technology to clients or external organisations working with people who are visually impaired.

Date started: 2013.

Why I love working at Seescape: I am visually impaired and use a vast array of different technologies daily to maintain my independence. Helping clients who are in a similar situation to myself to become more confident or make better use of different technologies to make their lives easier and increase their independence is my constant drive and passion.

Bill Malcolm, Support Worker/Driver

My role as a Driver/Support Worker at seescape is to provide transportation and assistance to the Head of Accessible Technology, enabling them to visit and support clients in their homes throughout Fife. I also assist with the set-up and dismantling of accessible technology equipment, and providing sighted assistance, orientation, and guiding as needed.

Fraser

Brief outline of role: I am based between the Sight Support team and accessible technology team. I am responsible for completing client Sight Support Reviews via the phone, completing client funding applications, overseeing client drop in sessions and undertaking general administration duties as required.

Why I love working at Seescape: I have been supported by Seescape throughout my childhood and started my journey at Seescape as part of the Thomas Pocklington Trust  ‘Get Set Progress’ Internship Programme. I love being providing support to clients who have similar needs to myself and have found this role really rewarding and am developing my knowledge and skills all the time.

Community Engagement

Graham Ross, Volunteer Coordinator

My Role: I deliver a programme of befriending and social groups for visually impaired people across Fife - working in partnership with a team of volunteers and partner agencies.

Why I love working at Seescape – I enjoy interacting with people and love that my job allows me to work with staff, volunteers, clients, and work together to support people with visual impairment.

Karen Russell, Community Hub Coordinator

My role as the Community Hub Coordinator at Seescape is to manage and develop the Visual Impairment/Community Hub, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently while providing a welcoming environment for service users and visitors. I am responsible for coordinating activities within the Hub, such as drop-ins, Glaucoma clinics, and art classes, as well as promoting Seescape's services through community outreach and partnerships.

Why I love working at Seescape: I enjoy my current role as it gives me lots of variety.  Raising awareness of eye health and making connections with different organisations is really interesting, but helping our clients is the best part.

Sight Support

My Role: I am the social worker and team leader for the sight support team,

Date started: I have been with the organisation since 1997

Why I love working at Seescape: I like working at Seescape as I see first-hand the difference the work that we do helps individuals.

Elaina Hutchison, Senior Rehabilitation Specialist

My Role: I provide professional rehabilitation support to visually impaired people to enhance their skills and confidence to maximise their independence. I also create support plans to empower clients to achieve their goals, and act as an advocate for visually impaired people and Seescape to help promote accessible services, equality, and understanding of the impact of sight loss.

Why I love working at Seescape:  I love working at Seescape as I am very fortunate be able to work closely with our clients and their families and see the willingness our clients have to adapt to new ways of life after sight loss, seeing their confidence grow allowing them to maintain independence and continuing to live a full life.

Deanne Brogan, Rehabilitation Specialist

My Role – After attending Glasgow Caledonian University, I have recently qualified as a professional Rehabilitation Specialist to provide support to visually impaired people to enhance their skills and confidence to maximise their independence. I am able to create support plans to empower clients to achieve their goals, and act as an advocate for visually impaired people and Seescape to help promote accessible services, equality, and understanding of the impact of sight loss.

Why I love working here - I really enjoy being able to assist individuals to rehabilitate when they’re vision has been causing them to face barriers in their everyday life. Working with them to identify what skills they’re needing to develop and working closely with them to learn new techniques and skills is proving to be very awarding, it’s great to see people becoming more independent again. I’m also very grateful to be given the opportunity to attend university as part of my role and to be learning new skills from a great mentor and staff team.

Donna Herd, Sight Support Worker

My Role: I work with people with a sight loss, doing assessments and helping them with their needs to make life easier.

Why I love working at Seescape:  I love working with a great team who are all striving to reach the same goal, to make a difference in people’s lives who are struggling with a sight loss.

Lindsey McDonald, Sight Support Advisor

My role: I am responsible for taking and processing all new referrals, contacting new registrations, and providing support and assessments over the phone as well as at our Hub in Glenrothes.

Why I love working at Seescape: I enjoy helping people and providing the support and aids which enables our clients to maintain their independence and continue to do the things they enjoy.

Wendy Leary, Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator

My Role: I engage with clients and offer advice on health and well-being, which includes physical and mental health. I work with clients on a 1-2-1 programme and as group exercise sessions. I support them in their journey to having a healthier mind and body.

Why I love working at Seescape: I especially like collaborating with an amazing team. I like to see the changes I can make to people’s lives. I am enthusiastic with the role I play. I enjoy supporting my clients, giving them the tools to live more healthier and independent life.

Admin Team

Lisa Girvan, Administration & Development Assistant

My Role: I’m part of the administration team, mostly office-based assisting with the day-to-day operations at Seescape. I’m responsible for processing CVI’s (Visual Impairment Certificates) and I’m usually the voice at the other end of your phone call. More recently taking on the role of ‘in-house’ photographer, so watch this space .. !

My role: I provide continuing support to the Admin, Community Engagement Team, and additional support to the Sight Support Team.

Our Trustees

Kirsty McIntosh – Vice-Chair

Kirsty McIntosh – Chair

Kirsty is Head of Partnerships at the Scottish Tech Army, a not-for-profit that brings skilled tech volunteers together with third sector organisations to help them maximise the use of  technology to further their aims. She has a business background in sectors as diverse as construction, architecture and technology and has a reputation for being an ‘ideas engine’, capable of seeing things differently which she says stems from a never-ending curiosity about the world. She’s a natural communicator and relationship builder and passionately believes in the use of technology as a force for good. She joined the Board in 2019.

Pauline Montgomery

Pauline Montgomery - Vice-Chair

Pauline, a mother of two from Fife, a qualified Accountant by profession, with over 24 years of financial experience in the Defence, Manufacturing and Health care business sectors.

Pauline is currently the Group Financial Controller for a Scottish Company which develops and manufactures retinal imaging devices enabling eyecare professionals to discover, diagnose, document, and treat ocular pathology.

Ken Scott Brown

Dr Ken Scott-Brown

Ken has been a Trustee of SeeScape since 2020, and has been working with SeeScape on Research and Knowledge Exchange collaborations for over 10 years in his capacity as a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and User Experience at Abertay University in Dundee. He has a particular interest in the development of accessible design for touch screen technology in smart phones and tablets. Ken has a close connection with the Kingdom of Fife, having started his career here in the 90’s studying Psychology at the University of St Andrews. He followed this up with post-doctoral research posts at Glasgow Caledonian University, St Andrews, and the University of Nottingham before taking up a lecturing post at Abertay in 2001.

Ross MacKay

Ross MacKay

Ross comes to Seescape with over twenty years’ experience of fundraising and charity leadership. He has led teams with specialisms in corporate, trust, institutional, community and high-level donor fundraising, managing staff across the UK and Ireland. Base in Queensferry, Ross lives with his wife Lorna and their dog Alf. Ross served as volunteer crew on the on the local RNLI lifeboat, until losing vision completely in one eye and restricted vision in the other due to diabetic retinopathy. His passion for supporting his local community, his love of technology and understanding just some of the challenges that visual impairment has on day-to-day life, meant Seescape was a great opportunity for Ross to volunteer some of his time towards supporting close to his heart.

Douglas Allison

Douglas qualified as an optometrist in 2014, achieved an MSc in primary care ophthalmology in 2018 and became an independent prescribing optometrist in early 2022. Douglas has a special interest in home visits and particularly enjoys being out of the test room. Douglas Joined the board in 2024. Douglas has a passion for vision and for people. Through volunteering and his work he has a wealth of experience in eye conditions and how they affect people's daily lives.

Janet Brereton

Jan has lived in Fife for over 20 years.  She brings to Seescape working knowledge and lived experiences of developing inclusive community partnerships. She has lived with severe sight loss since birth and has received support from Seescape's services.

Now retired from paid employment, Jan lives independently at home.  She enjoys listening to audiobooks and going to community events to socialise with others alongside travelling around the UK visiting friends and family.  In the past you may have met Jan on a tandem cycle ride, health walk or co-presenting a conference or workshop at national networking events promoting all-ability outdoor activities.

Jan continues to support organisations who value health and social care within the community thus enhancing the lives of people with low vision in varied and positive ways.
