We are aware that many of our clients face challenges accessing public transport without additional costs. While this has improved greatly over the last few years with the +1 symbol on the My Fife travel card, the companion element only applies to those travelling by bus and train travel is not included. However, we recently had confirmation from the Scottish Government that this is changing on the 1st April 2025! From this date companions of sight impaired people will also be able to travel by train at no additional cost. We very much hope that this will come as welcome news to many of our clients who do not often use rail travel with a companion as there is no benefit in terms of cost reduction for companions at present. If you would like any more information on this matter please contact Concessionary.Travel@fife.gov.uk.
